About Maggie

Maggie Usher is a UKCP-registered psychotherapist. In her NHS practice she is a Highly Specialist Systemic family and Couple Psychotherapist in the Tavistock Centre, which is a well renowned centre for the treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The Tavistock is also a prestigious training institution and Maggie teaches and supervises on the family therapy training.

She practises privately in north and central London, working with a comprehensive range of adult, child, adolescent family and couple difficulties; for example, anxiety, behavioural difficulties and separation. She has twenty-five years’ experience of working in this field. She is fully professionally insured and operates within the codes of practice laid out by the professional registering bodies AFT and UKCP.

Her practice has an emphasis on working in an anti-discriminatory  and anti-oppressive way. She is experienced in working with a variety of social and cultural and religious differences. She invites you to let her know of any aspects of difference: age, sexuality, race, marital or civil partnership that you want her to pay particular attention to.

Maggie provides assessments and reports for the Courts in childcare and contact cases. She has worked in the statutory and voluntary sector with children and families in many contexts; including court-mandated assessments and treatment work in complex child protection cases. She has also appeared as an Expert Witness in Court proceedings.
